Making a 150-Year Legend Legible to AI

The Langham, London is Tier-1 by any measure: two Michelin Keys, the world’s most decorated hotel bar, and the original hotel afternoon tea. But that pedigree wasn’t translating into AI search. The hotel performed well whenever a guest asked about it by name, but was missing from the open questions that introduce new guests, such as “best luxury hotel in London”, “best afternoon tea” and “London wedding venue”.

The program was delivered by sAIph Search, the luxury hospitality AI search optimization sister brand of Burst Digital. Over six months we rebuilt the hotel’s technical foundations, restructured its content so AI engines could read and quote it, and began building the off-site authority those engines rely on, measuring every step across five AI engines.

The Langham went from absent in two-thirds of AI answers to appearing in the majority, and AI-referred bookings were worth 1.83 times our fees inside four months.

AI Visibility Up From 34% to 59.1%

Every sAIph Search engagement starts with research. We built a 47-prompt set around the hotel’s four revenue pillars, benchmarked The Langham across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, scored seven readiness modules and mapped The Langham against Claridge’s and The Savoy topic by topic. The diagnosis: AI engines could reach the site and recognized the brand, but couldn’t extract enough to recommend it with confidence. The research also surfaced an uncontested strength, wellness and spa, where Chuan was named 14 times against Claridge’s 3 and The Savoy’s 1.

A monthly measurement cycle then tracked every change through to the answers. Visibility on ChatGPT rose from 40% to 70.2%, Gemini rose by more than 32 points, and The Langham moved ahead of Claridge’s and The Savoy on AI share of voice.

SEO

Structured Data Score More Than Tripled

We deployed machine-readable schema across the hotel (Hotel, Restaurant, FoodEstablishment, HealthAndBeautyBusiness, EventVenue, FAQ and BreadcrumbList) and built HotelRoom and Offer markup ready for release. We opened access to every major AI crawler, designed internal linking modules across all four revenue pillars so engines and guests could follow how the offerings connect, and handed the hotel’s team a Schema Maintenance Guidebook so the gains hold.

The structured data score rose from 12 to 38 and content extractability from 30 to 44. Meetings & Events shows the effect most clearly: Grand Ballroom schema and dedicated EventVenue content took it from the weakest pillar to the strongest, from 25% to 72%.

REDDIT COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT

Reddit Citations Nearly Tripled in a Month

AI engines assemble their answers mostly from sources beyond a hotel’s own website, and Reddit is one they lean on heavily for London hotels. We ran a structured community and social listening program across the luxury travel communities where those decisions are made.

The picture was a genuine asset. Organic conversation praised The Langham’s beds, Club Lounge, consistent service and Palm Court afternoon tea. Reddit became the fastest-growing source AI engines cited for The Langham, rising from 6 to 17 citations in a single month. Just as valuable were the gaps, hotel bars and weddings, where competitors still own the discussion, giving the brand an evidence-led list of where to compete next.

Result

From Recognized to Recommended

We set out with three goals: see the hotel’s afternoon tea heritage reflected in AI search, bring its meetings and events spaces into the frame, and strengthen the technical foundations LLMs rely on. The Langham went from absent in two-thirds of AI answers to appearing in the majority, with visibility rising from 34% to 59.1%.

The commercial results followed. Organic conversions rose 227%, and AI-referred bookings returned 83.1% on investment inside four months, worth 1.83 times our fees. Today, the 150-year-old legend is visible, extractable, and trusted by the engines and their guests alike.

“sAIph Search delivers on time every time. Since partnering, our brand is entering far more AI conversations than it was a month ago. The dedication of the team, the sheer volume of work they’ve put in, and their ability to work so well with our team are impressive. There’s nothing they need to improve.”
